My Hair Care Routine

All my hair has been cut off, it's so much shorter than I asked for and if I am honest, it has made my anxiety worse. I hate it, I'm already a chubby girl and not I can't hide my rounded face with my long hair! I don't have a high maintenance hair care routine so I thought I would share it with the beautiful readers of In The City Today!

The ends of my hair were damaged beyond repair so the hairdresser had to cut them off. I am determined to grow my hair out again and not have ends so bad they need the snip. So first up let me tell you all about my hair. It gets greasy so fast, it is a wash every day jobby. It also resembles something of a frizz ball, due to it not wanting to be straight and not wanting be curly.

Shampoo & Conditioner

I will be the first to admit, I am awful at remembering to condition my hair. I have really been trying to make this a daily occurrence with the shampooing. If you've followed my blog for some time you would have seen me mention previously I suffer from psoriasis flare ups every now and again so I don't stray too far from the bush (is that the saying?!) when it comes to shampoos. I use Head & Shoulders Classic Clean and my current new finds are these John Frida Frizz Ease Forever Smooth. The Frizz Ease range is relatively new to me, but it hasn't made my psoriasis flare up which is the first bonus point. It also smells amazing much better than the Head & Shoulders I must say, the bottles are prettier too! These don't take the colour out of my hair either as you all know, I am not a natural redhead. The idea with this shampoo & conditioner is that with continued use, your hair appears more smooth and the frizz keeps at bay.

Oils & Serums

Only in the past month or so, I have been brave enough to use different oils and serums in my hair. Obviously, with my hair getting greasy so quickly I always stayed away. Oil on oily hair na thanks mate. I've since discovered if I just use them on the ends of my hair and stay away from the roots, they are amazing. Clearly, I was behind the times on that one. The oil I am currently using is L'oreal Profesional Mythic Oil. I got this little bottle in a Look Fantastic box, I thought I had a post but I don't dropped the ball there. This bottle has lasted me months and it looks like I haven't even made a dent in it. I use this every other day and it smells amazing and makes my hair look shiny and finally healthy. On the other days, I use the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original 6 Effect Serum. What is it with ridiculously long names with hair care. I use about half a pump and again avoid the roots at all costs! This has also helped my hair stay so much softer and smoother later.

Hair Masks

I didn't realize hair masks were a thing until I received one in a Glossybox. I have been obsessed with the Naobay Natural & Organic Protective Hair Mask I'll link the post here as I actually went out and bought this hair mask in the full size then received another sample of it in another subscription box result. It's also a little bit cringe looking back at this post! I use this about once a week and have done since I first received a sample. I used to never really look into hair masks as I thought it took up too much time, but this one only takes 3 minutes. Perfect for the whole Sunday night pamper.

Leave In Conditioners

Yet again, another product I received in a subscription box and loved so much I had to buy. Of course, it's the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave In Conditioner. I got this in Birchbox which is surprising as I ended up hating this box and currently trying it again. This was in my January Favourites and again in my February Favourite 2016. I'm not even entirely sure how many bottles I have had of this stuff! It is truly amazing, it detangles, protects colour, conditions, smells so good too. Another beaut I have found is extremely recent in the form of a Birchbox Sample. It is the Beaver 1+ Daily Moisture Conditioning Spray, although a new find this is becoming a firm fav. It smells amazing and I alternate it with the Beauty Protector spray.  I concentrate this on the ends of my hair and they feel so much smoother, they are normally dry as a bone!

 Colour Toner

Last up is this Revlon Nutri Color Creme in 600 Fire Red. I brought this in a salon as I like using a toner to kee my hair nice and vibrant in between dying. It says on the bottle this is sold exclusively in salons but I have seen it available on Amazon so I would just be a little cautious if you are planning to buy this online, it may not be real. I just use this after washing my hair whilst in the shower, it only takes 3 minutes.
